To old for a car seat?

Enriqueta Steffen: I would be giving up the 5 point harness and just putting him in a booster with the seat belt as an alternative. NOT just sitting him in the seat!

Lashawn Zabarkes: No they're still very young and need to be in a car seat in my opinion. Maybe when there 8 or 9 then think about taking away the car seat.

Vickie Sterbenz: complicated subject. look into on bing and yahoo. that could help!

Hong Hunkin: Better be safe than sorry!!! Here in ny you have to be above 60 lbs and over 4'9.. to tell u the truth I was out of the car seat at age 9.. I was very small for my age...

Stanton Degregorio: Our 7 yr old 1st grader just got too big for the harness in the Evenflo Generations seat. This is a 'booster', so now she uses the seat belt with the seat. (the seat is harness to 65 pounds, and seat belt to 100 pounds. but she is already 4'9" so we are just about done with car seats.) I would counter your hubby's argument with ...... "why spend m! ore money on ANOTHER car seat just for another year or two of use?" That might help! Our state is passing a 'booster till 8' law, so the harnessed seat is best as long as you can safely use one. We have Sunshine Kids Radians in one car, but cannot use the harness after 45 pounds with the LATCH system, since it is an older car. Just check all the details of your seat!...Show more
