Tamatha Neubaum: car insurance is supposed to be for you as the driver of a certain vehicle. you need to advise your insurance carrier immediately upon getting another vehicle. since you still have the 1st vehicle, you are covered for driving it. it will depend how the court views the 2nd vehicle ownership sine you are not claiming anything. if no one else was injured or their vehicle not damaged, you may just slide thru with a hand slap. a lot will dpend on how long you have had ownership of 2nd vehicle. I hope you had title and registration n plates in order....Show more
Kizzy Hett: Bummer. The whole "insurance follows you", has EXCEPTIONS to it. One instance, is when it's another car that you own, and is not listed on the policy. In some states on some policies, if you got rid of the old car, whatever coverage you had on the old car, would be "automatic" on the new car, anywhere from 3 to 30 days - depends on state. If you did NOT get rid of the old car, depen! ding on your policy, you'd have either 3 or 30 days to notify the insurance company of the additional vehicle, during which time you'd have LIABILITY ONLY coverage.Of course, some policies are written to not EVER give a grace period for a new car you get - regardless of whether or not you still own the old one. So - no one here could possibly know, but if it's been more than 30 days, you're probably not covered at all....Show more
Thurman Buege: Some auto insurance companies cover you for a limited amount of time when you buy a 2nd car. After that limited time you are no longer covered in the new car. You are not covered for both cars after that time period expires. You need to put in the claim and let your auto insurance company approve or deny the claim. No one here would know for sure what they will do. You were driving uninsured because you never put insurance on the new car. You should always have insurance on the car you are driving. You s! hould have taken the insurance off the old car if you were no ! longer driving it. If you have not done that yet you need to do that ASAP....Show more
