Hipolito Rightmire: A Cessna 172 Skyhawk, for example, has a max cruising speed of 126kts. A Cessna 206 Stationair has a max cruising speed of 151kts. Maximum speeds differ for the engine the aircraft has, aerodynamics, etc. If you want to know specific speeds of certain aircraft, simply go to its website and look at specifications
Hal Palowoda: There is alot of range in what you are asking. Cessna's Corvalis TT is a 235knot single engine prop aircraft http://www.cessna.com/single-engine/cessna-400.htm and their Skycatcher is 118knot small aircraft.http://www.cessna.com/single-engine/skycatcher.htm...That is just Cessna's current line up of single engine prop aircraft. Then there is Lancair's IV-P which is 330mph!http://www.lancair.com/Main/iv_ivp.htmlIf you expand the lines to include small twins you still get very wide ranges ! of speeds. There are even turbine driven prop singles. So a little narrower basis is needed to give you a good answer. I guess the majority of small single engine prop aircraft will fall between 120-200knots if you have to pick a "typical" max speed....Show more
