Drinking Energy Drink....Shotgun style?

Colby Millberg: not a good idea"energy" drinks are a load of caffeine and sugar. most have a label "not for sale to children"! one of my newsgroups posted the story last week of a 14 y/o male who wound up in ER because of "energy" drink. of course the ER doc could find nothing wrong with him medically and were unable to treat him until he told parents about the drink

Ginny Trickett: Probably not. Are you trying for a faster effect? Caffeine is absorbed faster 'sublingually' which means thought the mouth lining and under the tongue. The stomach lining absorbs it a lot slower especially if there is food in the stomach so MORE in the stomach isn't going to matter.Try a caffeinated candy or mint like Foosh (http://www.vroomfoods.com) if you want a fast dose of the same ingredients in an energy drink. (Without the sugar too!) Unlike other gums and mints, Foosh has all the caffeine as a cup of coffee so you only need one to get you going. http://www.vroomfoods.! com/comp_chart.html Caffeine gets a bad rap but it is relatively safe as long as you are otherwise healthy. One energy drink shouldn't send an otherwise healthy 14 year old to the hospital....Show more
